A snorkeler drifts in warm clear water that's full of friendly colorful fish. The North Shore is calm during the summer and the South Shore is calm during the winter so you can usually find good conditions. You should ONLY snorkel at beaches with lifeguards, or with one of Kauai's many snorkel-guide companies. The Pacific Ocean often looks calm, but even experienced swimmers can get into trouble.
