One Lane Bridge Crossing the Hanalei River

There is no way to get to the end of the road at Kee Beach without slowing down. Waiting to cross one-lane bridges like this one at the Hanalei River further slows the pace. "Who goes first" on a one lane bridge is a common visitor dilemma. Though signs direct motorists to yield to oncoming traffic, unwritten rules and common courtesy suggest that once three to five cars have passed over the bridge, drivers should halt and allow the other lane of traffic to proceed.
