Allerton Gardens / National Tropical Botanical Garden
On Lawai Road, across the street from Spouting Horn Park, is the entrance to the National Tropical Botanical Garden. Plants from all over the world grow in this sprawling garden, which is the nation's only congressionally chartered tropical botanical garden. Allerton is one of three National Tropical Botanical Gardens on Kauai, and one of five in the US.
The garden has the world's largest collection of native Hawaiian flora, many of them rare and endangered. Tours, which require reservations, are available.
